Sustainability Policy in the EDAG Group
Sustainability policy is particularly important to the EDAG Group: it represents both a long-term business orientation and the integration of ecological and social aspects into our management systems.
As part of our corporate culture, it determines our actions together with our values such as trust, transparency, reliability, and fairness in our relationships with our business partners. In this way, it contributes to securing the future of our company and to the development of the economy and society.
As an engineering service provider with around 9,000 highly qualified employees, the EDAG Group supports and is committed to the goals of the Paris Agreement. We have set ourselves the strategic goal of achieving CO2 neutrality (net) by 2039 and have committed our short-term emission reduction targets by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
In order to achieve our overarching strategic goal, we have developed a transition plan for climate protection – the “Roadmap way 2 zero”. This consists of a bundle of various actions and interim targets and applies to the entire EDAG Group.
Compared to our base year 2021, we have already achieved significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions in the reporting year 2024. Our scope 1 GHG emissions have decreased by 32 percent and our scope 2 GHG emissions (calculated using the market-based method) by 87 percent. This is mainly due to the fact that we have switched the electricity supply for our German sites to 100 percent electricity from renewable sources.
GHG emissions in the relevant Scope 3 categories developed differently and are slightly down overall compared to the base year (-1 percent). Significant reductions were recorded, for example, in fuel and energy-related emissions in the upstream value chain. Rising emissions were recorded in the categories of business travel and employee commuting, which are mainly attributable to increased business activity and the increase in the number of employees.
Overall, we were able to reduce our total greenhouse gas emissions by 29 percent in 2024 compared to 2021.
As an internationally oriented company, EDAG has set itself the task of ensuring compliance with human rights and recognized labor standards at our numerous locations worldwide and is committed to the UN Global Compact. As a people business, our sustainability policy also focuses on our employees. We offer our employees at around 70 international locations flexible working hours, attractive remuneration, and promote work-life balance, health protection, and gender equality.
As one of the world's leading engineering partners to the mobility industry, we also want to set high standards in our conduct and relationships with business partners. To make this transparent for our partners, we have developed the EDAG Code of Conduct. It is in line with our value system to combine business practices with ethical principles and thus ensure compliance with legal regulations at all times through our integrity. The Code of Conduct also provides our employees with guidelines for lawful and fair conduct in their day-to-day business and for the responsible use of available resources and our environment.
