BaFin is warning investors about the risks of securities transactions based on calls in social media, Internet forums and apps, such as Telegram and Reddit. Investors should not base investment decisions on such concerted calls, but should obtain information about the security in question from sources that are as objective as possible.
There is a significant risk of loss, as short-term price increases resulting from the calls and corresponding speculation can be followed by sharp price declines. Increased sales volumes that can be observed may also quickly collapse again and make it more difficult to sell the securities acquired. There is also a risk of false or misleading statements being made in social media. In addition, calls can be used to entice investors to buy certain shares in order to profit specifically from rising prices of these shares.

Frankfurt Stock Exchange is the largest of the seven stock exchanges in Germany. Deutsche Börse AG is (together with Börse Frankfurt Zertifikate AG) repository of the FWB, which is regulated by public law. In this capacity it ensures the smooth functioning of exchange trading.

There are over 1,8 million securities tradeable such as stocks, bonds, ETFs, ETCs, ETNs, funds, warrants and certificates. On the stock exchange supply and demand of securities are brought together and offset by price determination and executed at these prices, mediated by specialists in floor trading (market maker). Targets of exchange trading are enhanced market transparency, greater liquidity, reducing of transaction costs and security against manipulation.
