Derivatives

Highly liquid, standardised financial instruments whose value depends on the performance of an underlying security or financial asset (see underlying instrument)

The most important types of derivatives are options and futures. Derivatives are traded over-the-counter or on a derivatives exchange.

Our glossary explains important financial terms and should not leave any questions unanswered. However, if you are missing a definition, please write to us at redaktion@deutsche-boerse.com. We will then include the term if possible.
