Investment horizon

The time-span money is tied up in an investment.

The term "investment horizon" illustrates the timing of an investment, a distinction is made between short, medium and long term investment horizons. Usually, short-term means up to one or two years, medium term translates into up to five years, while long-term describes every kind of period lasting longer than this. However, these terms are used very dissimilar in practice.
